Claudie Azoulai has been involved in the visual arts for more than 30 years, both as an art teacher in the Vancouver public school system and as a fibre artist. Coming from a background in sculpture and printmaking, she has continued her passion for the visual arts through the highly tactile and colourful art of feltmaking.
Born in Cairo, Egypt, Claudie came from a Sephardic Jewish background. Her family moved to Montreal in 1956 in the aftermath of political unrest in Egypt. She graduated from McGill University where she received a degree in Education. She continued her studies through Fine Arts from Concordia University, where she focused on sculpture and printmaking.
Claudie has lived in British Columbia since 1979 and has created roots here with her husband and family.
